Buying or selling a house is one of the most complex financial transactions most people will ever do. The whole process can feel expensive and intimidating, especially if you don’t have a good real estate agent. My goal here at DiscountAgent.com is to make things run as smoothly as possible for my client. That’s a huge part of the reason I offer Utah real estate commission rebates. I know that no matter how much work I’m doing, you’re doing just as much. Sellers have to make their homes sparkle for showings and be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Buyers and sellers have to do a ton of research into the right lender and deal with all the unexpected wrinkles that come with the process.
The other thing is, moving is expensive! No matter how carefully you budget, something will come up that costs you extra money. Utah real estate commission rebates give you a little extra in your pocket. For buyers, that’s actual cash, since I split my commission 50/50. For sellers, you get to keep more of the sale price, since I list most houses for 1.5% of the price, compared to the usual 3%. Can you use a few extra thousand bucks in the bank? Most of my clients get around $4,500 back (or get to keep that much of the sale price). What could you do with $4,500?
Some people worry that a real estate commission rebate is a little shady, legally-speaking. Or maybe it’s taxable? Relax! Rebates are perfectly legal. And the IRS counts them as a discount and doesn’t tax real estate rebates. Sweet! (There are a couple of exceptions here, so please consult your tax professional.)
The last concern people have is that offering real estate commission rebates means you get sub-par service.
