About Lakewood
Lakewood is one of Holladay’s most established and varied neighborhoods, set directly south of Crestwood and wrapping around the Cottonwood Country Club golf course. It is bounded by Lakewood Drive on the north — which itself borders Bonneville Junior High and the former Spring Lane Elementary site — 5600 South on the south, the Van Winkle Expressway on the west, and Highland Drive on the east. The neighborhood’s notable streets all carry their own character: Lakewood Drive forms its northern edge, while Cottonwood Club Drive backs onto the east side of the country club’s golf course and Woodcrest Drive backs onto its west side. Fairoaks Drive runs through the heart of the community. The golf course frontage along these streets is a defining feature.
What makes Lakewood especially interesting is how widely its homes vary. Most were built in the 1950s as original, modestly-sized residences — some as small as 1,056 square feet — but the neighborhood has seen steady renovation, expansion, and selective new construction over the decades, including newer homes built in the 2000s that reach up to roughly 6,908 square feet. Lots also vary, from about 0.19 acres on the smaller original parcels up to 0.94 acres on the largest. That mix shows up in pricing: homes here are priced approximately $600,000 to $1.8 million, with the highest values typically on the golf course lots along Cottonwood Club Drive and Woodcrest Drive. For buyers, that range means Lakewood offers everything from attainable original 1950s homes to fully reimagined luxury residences on prime lots, all in one neighborhood.
The neighborhood’s anchor is the Cottonwood Country Club on Lakewood Drive itself, sitting between Lakewood and Crestwood — with its golf, tennis, pool, and dining available to members and many Lakewood homes literally backing onto its fairways. The Holladay Village center is just minutes away, and the Highland Drive corridor and I-215 keep downtown Salt Lake City and the airport within an easy commute. The former Spring Lane Elementary site, just off the neighborhood’s north edge, is being converted by the City of Holladay into a planned future public park — a project the city has secured a 30-year lease and bond funding for, with design and construction phased over the coming years. The neighborhood is non-HOA, so we always confirm the status of a specific property before our clients write an offer.
Lakewood is served by the Granite School District. Following the closure of Spring Lane Elementary in 2023, children now attend Oakwood Elementary, then Bonneville Junior High — which is directly adjacent on the north side of Lakewood Drive — and Cottonwood High School. Always verify your address’s current school assignment with the Granite District before purchasing.
